Best Dominican Salons in the Country

If you have read my last three posts on how to do a Dominican blow out and you felt a bit overwhelmed by all the steps don’t worry. I realize not everyone is willing to do all that to their hair. However, even if you don’t want to do a Dominican blow out yourself, you still may want to get that look. In light of that, I have complied a list of Dominican Salons around the country. But these are not just any Dominican salons. These are salons that have been rated and reviewed as the best by their clients.

These are all salons that were given 4 stars or above by their customer. If you go to a salon then you naturally only want to go to the best and I did see some dodgy salons that were not rated very highly. I have not visited these salons myself so I can’t recommend them personally but many others have.

I have separated them by region. If I didn’t include your region it is probably because I could not find a Dominican salon in your region rated very highly or find one at all. So without further ado, I present to you…
The Best Dominican Salons in the Country (as voted by you :) )

Three Excellent Tips on How to do a Braid Out on Natural Hair

We all have aspirations, goals we would like to achieve. There are certainly things you want to undertake or to possess or quite possibly be. A number of people wish to do a braid out on natural hair. Maybe you would as well. As with anything else, that's not really hard when you know the right way to. When you can get upon the right track, break it down into easy steps, this can be quite easy to do a braid out on natural hair. Should that be one of your aspirations, please read on to learn a straightforward way you could possibly do a braid out on natural hair in exactly three steps...

The initial essential step is wash and condition your hair. This is vitally important because you want to make sure your hair is clean, moisturized and wet. While you carry out this 1st step, you need to avoid de-tangle your hair in the shower under the running water so that your hair will be very easy to comb through once you get out..

It would be important to achieve this 1st step completely and correctly. Failing to accomplish this properly could mean so you won't have any hair breakage or loss while you are braiding your hair later on in the process..

Next, the second step will be after your hair is clean and moisturized is to part your hair into 4 sections.. There are two main things that you'll want to circumvent here. These are not using a wide toothed comb when you are parting your hair so that you don't lose a lot of hair due to breakage and not using cremes and or leave in conditioners on your hair to make the entire process easier.

Your third and last step is start braiding smaller sections of your hair within each of the smaller sections. The 4 big sections that you parted your hair into is a nice way to keep the procedure organized and your hair from getting knotted again.. This is really important because as you go through each section you will know exactly how far you've come and how much left you've got to braid.. What is essential to make sure you avoid here is allowing your hair to get too dry. While your hair does not have to be dripping wet as it should be for a rollerset, it is best to keep your hair wet so you can get the waves you desire. Also keep in mind that the tighter you braid your hair, the more defined your waves will be and the looser your braid your hair the fewer waves your hair will have.

All that you should do is generally to stick closely to the three steps recommended here. Whenever you do, you should be able to do a braid out on natural hair easily and without problems. Following these recommendations has worked with success for numerous others before you; it will work for you too! Simply do the things recommended that you do, and carefully steer clear of the possible stumbling blocks described above. Then all that is left for you to do is to experience the benefits of having beautiful beachy waves that are going to accrue to you with regards to your success!

Top 5 Signs of Beautiful Hair
Have you ever seen a woman with beautiful hair and become transfixed? She may have had a head full of stunning natural hair or relaxed hair that was full of body. As you stood there watching her hair blow in the wind or bounce as she walked, did you wonder how you could get hair that beautiful? Did you wonder if some women are just born with naturally gorgeous hair and whether there was any hope for your hair?

Well, yes, there is hope. I believe you can have luscious locks like these enticing women. You can have the hair that gets men's attention and makes other women admire or hate on you. You can have the kind of hair that looks like you could walk right into a Vogue fashion spread photo shoot and fit right in.
But how do you transform the locks you have now into head turning locks? And what does truly beautiful hair entail? There are five major components to having a stunning mane:

Shine

Shiny hair is hair that sparkles and gets noticed. Shine is one of the main indicators of healthiness. The alternative is hair that is dull and drab and that gets noticed for a different reason.

Volume/Thickness

Thick and voluminous hair is associated with youth and vitality because as we age, it can start to thin out. It can also make you look sickly.

Rich Color

When I look at shampoo commercials on TV, one of the things that stand out about the model is how rich and vibrant their hair color is. Regardless of the color or whether it's your natural color or not, vibrant colors attract the eye and is attention grabbing.

Movement

How your hair moves is a big factor in how well it entices the people around you. If your hair is relaxed and it isn't full of life it doesn't get noticed. If you have
natural hair, you can get away with not having movement in your hair as long as you don't miss this next tip.

Moisture

Hair that is moisturized is the epitome of healthiness. This is because you won't have truly shiny hair if it isn't moisturized. Your color won't look as rich if it is dry. If it is voluminous but is dry, you will look like the bride of Frankenstein. And it will not sway in the breeze if it is too dry and stiff to move. If you miss this component, even if you get all the others, you will not have beautiful hair.

Once you get shiny, moisturized, richly colored, thick, and full of life hair you will then have the showstopping, head turning hair that you have been dreaming of.

What is Your Hair Type?

I just realized that if I am going to do reviews on hair products that ya'll really need to know what kind of hair I have.

So here is a bit of background for you. I am a black woman who recently
transitioned from relaxed to natural hair. I've been transitioning to natural hair for a year now and I've been doing LC (little chops) along the way. Well, today I did a big chop. I just went in the shower and while washing my hair I thought "I'm going to cut off most of my relaxed ends." And when I got out of the shower, I did. I was a bit chicken and I left a little bit of my relaxed ends, just so I could still put it in a very small ponytail if I want to.

I must say that doing it was fun and liberating and not really scary at all but it has taken me 30 years to get to this point so it was not a split second decision that I made. If you are having a hard time deciding whether or not you want to transition or do the big chop, I completely understand. Even just two years ago, I don't think I would have. But you will get there and may come to find that it's not even a big deal to do the big chop.

So now you know I'm pretty much natural (yea! Never thought I'd say that!!) you may be wondering what my hair type is. Unfortunately I do not know that yet. Not completely. I know I have some 4b hair and maybe some 4c hair and maybe some 4a hair. Possibly 3c hair. The more I find out about my hair, the more I will have to report but for now, natural hair is so new to me that I am not sure what my hair type is. I'm sure in the next few months I will figure out what my hair type is. Once I figure it out, I'll let ya'll know.

For Ladies out there who do know your hair type...How did you figure it out? Is your hair type one way when it is dry and one way when it is wet? How did you find the perfect products for your hair type?

Stay Tuned.

Coloresse: Pureology Quality on a Pantene Budget?

So, you know those generic perfumes and colognes that say "If you like Chanel No.5, you'll love Shanel No.10."? Well that does not just apply to perfumes. There are also knock off hair products and styling tools. Most of the ones that I know about are from Sally Beauty Supply and I will do posts on many of these in the future.

The first Sally's knock off product line I'll talk about is their Coloresse Line, which is a generic version of Pureology.

The ingredients are not the same but the do have similarities and they both promise to do similar things to your hair. They both are sulfate free shampoos that protect your hair color from fading and they both get great reviews. But Pureology costs $28 at drugstore.com on a good day (more at other places) and Coloresse costs $7.99 at Sally Beauty Supply. So, before you go out buy Pureology for $30 why not try Coloresse first for $8 and see if that doesn't work for you, at a fraction of the cost of Pureology. It's worth a shot, ladies (and gents).

Coloresse also has products for defining your curls, volumizing flat hair, and repairing damaged hair so whatever your hair trouble, Coloresse has you covered.

If you are more interested in the Pureology, they too have different products for different hair problems. In addition to their Hydrate line, there is the SuperSmooth System, the PureVolume System, EssentialRepair System, and the NanoWorks Luxury System.

If you have tried Pureology, tell us what you think of it. If you have tried Coloresse, tell us what you think of it. But if you have tried Pureology and Coloresse please give us a comparison of the two and which one you think is better. I really want to hear what you think. Is pureology worth the extra price or is Coloresse just as good? I just bought Coloresse Moisture shampoo today and I will give a review of it after I have used.

Stay Tuned.

Edit: I actually bought the Coloresse for dry and damaged hair, not the one for moisturizing. I'll try that one and tell you how it works for me.

So, you know those generic perfumes and colognes that say "If you like Chanel No.5, you'll love Shanel No.10."? Well that does not just apply to perfume. There are also knock off shampoos and conditioners. Most of the ones that I know about come from Sally Beauty Supply and I will do future posts on the ones that I know.

The first Sally's knock off product line I'll talk about is their Coloresse Line, which is a generic version of Pureology.

Here are the ingredients for Coloresse Moisture Shampoo:

Water (Aqua, Eau), Sodium C14-18 Olefin Sulfonate, Isopropylamine Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Glycol Stearate, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Fragrance (Parfum), PEG-150 Distearate, Cinnamidopropytrimonium Chloride, Polyamide-2, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Polyquaternium-10, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Tocopheryl Acetate Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract, PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Cocamide, Lecithin, Caprylic/Capric, Triglyceride, PEG-12 Oleate, Propylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Tetrasodium, EDTA, Phosphoric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Ext. Beauty Bargains Blog Q&A

Who am I?

I am a beauty "snob" (ha ha) with a secret...I don't like spending a lot of money but I still want to look on point. I'm a Tennessee native on a budget and I have to limit what I buy so that means I have to be a beauty bargain hunter of sorts.

Why am I blogging?

I am known amongst my family and friends for being able to find a good deal on everything from groceries, car rentals and hotel rooms to technology and fashion. Beauty is no exception. I want to share with you beauty tips that can save you money, alternatives to expensive products, online sales and bargains and much more. You will want to come here weekly to learn about the new deals I've found on
hair products, skin products, nail products, and cosmetics. And when I find free stuff, believe me, I will let you know.

How can you be involved?

You are one of the most important parts of this blog and its success. I'm doing this for you. I want you to feel comfortable asking and answering questions, commenting, and making suggestions. Make sure you bookmark this page and subscribe to this blog so you can be kept up to date with everything. I do ask that we not be mean spirited to anyone here, curse, or be unnecessarily negative. This is a fun place to be and we can all benefit from it.

Now let's start saving, shall we?
